In Bibliotek.dk, you can choose between two ways to search - basic and advanced, depending on your task at hand.
In many cases, the basic search will be sufficient.
Write in the search box what you are looking for. It can be a title, an author, a topic, or a mix. If you remember part of a title, the author’s first name, and that it was a book - just write that, for example:
If you know which material type you are looking for, you can choose material type up front to only search for i.e. films
In the search results, you will have several options to continue working with your search.
Use the filters to refine by material type, physical/digital material, language, fiction or non-fiction, and more.
The order of hits in the search result depends on several factors in the underlying ranking. It is continuously adjusted, but the following rank highly:
As a student or researcher, you may need to do more advanced searches. Go to the advanced search page. Click Advanced next to the search field.
You can now search using field search, where you compose the search using fields connected by the operators AND, OR, NOT.
Truncation
If you are not quite sure of the ending of your keyword or just want to search broadly, you can truncate your keyword with an asterisk *. When you truncate, you search at the beginning of the word and any ending. This means that searching for climate* searches for all words that start with climate: Climate change, climate policy, climate research, etc.
You can narrow down your search to a specific time interval, a particular language or material type and age group using the dropdown boxes at the bottom of the advanced search page.
Command Search
Go to "Edit in CQL" in order to search using search operators. The search operators are specially developed for the search method used for advanced search.
Please note, that many search terms must be in Danish, since the indexes are only developed in Danish.
